Emily Sanders
Grants Manager
Emily Sanders joined The Hastings Center as grants manager in April 2024.
She spent approximately nine years as dean of strategic integrations and initiatives at Madison Area Technical College, where she led a development team to secure approximately $17 million in grant funding annually, providing technical assistance, oversight and grant management support for more than 70 grants and sub-award agreements. Emily then served as manager of grants and partnerships for the Project Management Institute’s Educational Foundation, leading the development of partnerships with youth-serving nonprofits in 100 countries. She has also been a consultant to secure grant funding for free clinics, public health departments, and federal qualified health centers to expand access to care.
Earlier in her career, Emily was the community care manager for Group Health Cooperative, a nonprofit member-owned health plan operating six clinics and serving 80,000 members across southern Wisconsin. She established its charitable giving programs; oversaw engagement and outreach strategies for diverse communities; managed Medicaid programs; and led cultural competence, interpreter services, and community relations for the health plan.
